Ramya

Ramya ,also known by her real name Divya Spandana, is a popular actress in the Kannada film industry(Sandalwood) and Tamil film industry(Kollywood).

Birth and Childhood

Ramya was born in Bangalore, Karnataka State on 29 November 1981. She studied at St. Hilda's school in Ooty (Tamil Nadu). She then earned her collegiate at St. Joseph's College of Commerce, Bangalore. Ramya participated in stage shows and dance rehearsals from her grade school days.

Rising Fame

Ramya stepped into the film industry with Kannada movie Abhi starring against Puneet Rajkumar. Being her latest hit "Arasu" along with Puneet Rajkumar and Meera Jasmine released in early 2007 has done well again. She is considered to be "golden girl" in Kannada film industry as she has the success rate of close to 90% in her career. She is one of the most beautiful actresses in South India.Her nickname "Kuthu ramya"came from just becuase of her hit in kuthu movie.

The movie "Amruthadhare" shows her acting in one of her recent films directed by Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar.Her debut film in Kollywood had bombed at the boxoffice.

Her breakthrough in Tamil came through her film Polladhavan (2007 film) where she acted against Dhanush. The film was considered a dark horse success , being released during the Deepavali period. Rajinikanth was all praises for the entire crew of Polladhavan [1]. It is known she is now busy shooting for Gautham Menon's "Varanam Aayiram" opposite Surya and has changed her screen name to Divya which is believed to have brought her more luck in getting hi-fling roles.
